The Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security) reported the violations were recorded by a camera located at kilometer 20 on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway. A majority of the offenders, 238, were commercial drivers. With over 50,000 images still under review from the camera, the number of violations is expected to rise.
Vehicle owners will be notified of the infractions. The Traffic Police Department stated they will continue to monitor highway surveillance systems to detect and address traffic violations, including failure to wear seatbelts.

The department is also training an AI system to identify and record seatbelt violations for both drivers and passengers. The Road Traffic Safety Law mandates seatbelt use for drivers and passengers in vehicles equipped with them.
Failing to wear a seatbelt while the vehicle is in motion carries a fine of 800,000 to 1,000,000 VND.
