The Ben Thanh - Can Gio metro line, spanning nearly 54 km, requires approximately 154 hectares of land. The project impacts 507 households and 16 organizations across seven wards and communes: Xom Chieu, Tan Thuan, Tan My, Nha Be, Binh Khanh, An Thoi Dong, and Can Gio. Among these, around 92 households face full resettlement, while the remaining properties will undergo partial land acquisition.
The total compensation and site clearance cost for the project has decreased by approximately 3,000 billion VND compared to the initial preliminary study. This reduction is due to updated figures for affected households and the revised land acquisition area.
Vinspeed Company, a subsidiary of Vingroup Group, is investing in the Ben Thanh – Can Gio metro line, with groundbreaking scheduled for December 2025. The route begins near Ben Thanh Market at 23/9 Park (formerly District 1) and concludes at a 39-hectare depot adjacent to the Can Gio reclaimed urban area.

The project's total investment is estimated at 102,430 billion VND, excluding site clearance expenses. The line is designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h. Phase one includes two stations, Ben Thanh and Can Gio, along with a 39-hectare depot. Completion is anticipated in 2028, aiming to establish a high-volume transportation link between HCMC's center and Can Gio.
