Ho Chi Minh City residents receive National Day gifts

Many residents visited their local People's Committee offices in Ho Chi Minh City on September 1st to receive a 100,000 VND gift for National Day.

Starting at 8 a.m., dozens of residents arrived at the Tan Son Nhat Ward People's Committee office to receive their holiday gifts. Nearly 10 ward staff members were assigned to distribute the gifts by household. After receiving 500,000 VND for her family of 5, Bich shared that while the amount wasn't substantial, it was the first time she had received a holiday gift from the ward.

"It's enough to buy food for my family for the entire holiday," she said. Many residents took photos and checked in on social media after receiving the gift, sharing their joy.

About 5 km away, the Thoi An Ward People's Committee also began distributing 100,000 VND gifts to residents to commemorate National Day. To make it more convenient, the ward set up 6 distribution points: the People's Committee office and various neighborhood offices.

Nguyen Duc Hiep, Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, stated that the distribution locations were announced yesterday through ward newsletters and community groups. Residents unable to collect their gifts on September 1st can visit the People's Committee office from September 3rd to 14th during business hours.

In Di An Ward, the most populous ward in Ho Chi Minh City, gift distribution began yesterday evening. This morning, crowds gathered at various locations to receive their gifts. In addition to 10 direct distribution points, Di An Ward also arranged home deliveries for elderly residents, those with mobility issues, and people with disabilities.

Ho Chi Minh City has allocated over 1,010 billion VND to provide gifts for over 10 million residents. Chanh Hung Ward (formerly in District 8) has the highest number of recipients at nearly 182,000, while Thanh An Commune has the lowest at 5,275.

Residents can register for gifts through two methods: using the VNeID app linked to their bank account, which is also connected to their social security account, or receiving the gift in person at their local People's Committee office. The in-person option is recommended for those unable to register through the VNeID app.
