Typhoon Kajiki (Storm No. 5) was one of the strongest and most dangerous storms in recent years. On the afternoon of 25/8, the storm hit Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Tri, causing widespread heavy rain.
According to the Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), as of the morning of 26/8, the storm had caused three deaths in Ninh Binh, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh; 13 people were injured, including 5 each in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri.
Ha Tinh was hardest hit, with over 6,300 houses having their roofs blown off, 1,100 houses flooded, and nearly 21,000 hectares of rice paddies damaged. Heavy rain in Thanh Hoa also flooded 1,900 houses.
Many schools also reported flooding, roof damage, collapsed fences, broken windows, and fallen trees. The estimated damage is in the billions of dong.

The remnants of Typhoon Kajiki are forecast to continue causing heavy rain, with a very high risk of deep flooding, flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, midlands and the northern delta.
