Around 8:50 PM, a fire erupted on the first floor of the two-story house, quickly spreading to the front and igniting the electrical wiring. Neighbors shouted for help and used fire extinguishers and water hoses to try to control the blaze, but their efforts were unsuccessful. They managed to pull a burned man from the house and call for an ambulance.
Within 10 minutes, firefighters arrived at the scene with at least four fire trucks and dozens of personnel. By 9:50 PM, the fire was completely extinguished. According to witnesses, at the time of the fire, in addition to the injured man, there were at least 5 other people inside the house; all escaped safely, including two who were rescued by firefighters.
Tay Ho district officials said preliminary findings suggest the fire was started by a son who set the house ablaze with gasoline after a conflict with his father, resulting in the son's burns.
