Hue appoints officials after merging two departments of culture and tourism

Le Minh Nhan appointed director of new department; Tran Thi Hoai Tram from tourism department reassigned to lead foreign affairs.

On 3/9, Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, presented appointment decisions for the leadership of the new Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This department was formed through the merger of the former Department of Culture and Sports with the Department of Tourism.

Le Minh Nhan, a City Party Committee member and the former Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, was appointed Director of the newly merged Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The new department has 4 deputy directors: Nguyen Huy Hien, Bui Thanh Dung, Nguyen Thien Binh, and Duong Thi Thu Truyen. Their terms are for 5 years, effective from 1/9/2026 to 31/8/2031.

Tran Thi Hoai Tram, who previously served as Director of the Department of Tourism, was reassigned to the Department of Foreign Affairs and appointed its director. Her 5-year term runs from 3/9/2026 to 2/9/2031.

The Hue City People's Committee also appointed Van Anh Tuan as Deputy Chief of Office for the Hue City People's Committee Office. Tuan was previously a member of the specialized research unit assisting the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee. His term extends until 2/9/2031.

Chairman Le Tri Thanh stated that these reassignments, recruitments, and appointments were made based on job requirements, along with each official's qualifications, capabilities, experience, and work history.

He urged the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to quickly stabilize its structure, ensuring uninterrupted state management. He also emphasized leveraging Hue's strengths in culture, heritage, sports, and tourism. New officials are expected to quickly adapt, utilize their skills, maintain a proactive attitude, and collaborate with staff to achieve departmental goals.

On 20/8, all 48 members of the Hue City People's Council unanimously approved the merger of the Department of Culture and Sports with the Department of Tourism. This reorganization reduces the number of specialized agencies under the city People's Committee from 14 to 13. The merger aims to streamline state management and better utilize Hue's unique cultural, heritage, and tourism potential.

The city People's Committee will outline the new department's functions, duties, powers, and organizational structure, ensuring no overlap or omissions. It will also continue to streamline internal operations and address any surplus deputy positions.
