The Vinh Tu Bridge will begin at the intersection of provincial roads 4 and 19 and end at the intersection of National Highway 49B and the planned coastal road. The 2.36 km bridge, with approximately 880 m of connecting roads at both ends, will have a cross-section of 15.5 m. Its structure will consist of abutments and piers with bored pile foundations, and it will include a lighting system.
The connecting roads will have complete infrastructure, including sidewalks, trees, lighting, drainage, utility boxes, and a traffic safety system. The total investment is estimated at over 1,500 billion VND.
According to Hue City's Transport Construction Project Management Board, the new Vinh Tu Bridge across Tam Giang Lagoon will address the transportation needs between the two sides of the lagoon, complete the connection between provincial road 14 and National Highway 49B, serve travel and goods transportation demands, and ensure road and waterway traffic safety. The project, upon completion, will also open up opportunities for sea and ecotourism development in the lagoon area.

The 68 km long Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system, covering an area of 22,000 ha, is the largest brackish water lagoon in Southeast Asia. Rich in flora and fauna, Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon is considered to have the highest biodiversity in the region. Currently, the lagoon is crossed by the Ca Cut, Thuan An, Truong Ha, and Tu Hien Bridges, none of which are even one km long.
If built, Vinh Tu will be the longest bridge across Tam Giang Lagoon. For many years, residents of Quang Dien Commune and Phong Quang Ward have relied on boats at the Vinh Tu and Con Toc ferry terminals to cross the lagoon.
