The Long Thanh interchange, a critical nexus connecting the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, and T2 road to Long Thanh Airport, became fully operational from 6 PM today. Road Management Area IV, under the Vietnam Road Administration, in coordination with Project Management Board 85 and other relevant units, initiated the temporary operation of all remaining branches at the interchange.
The full opening of all branches aims to synchronize connections between the two major expressways east of Ho Chi Minh City. This is expected to shorten travel time to Ba Ria-Vung Tau and alleviate traffic pressure on nearby interchanges. Previously, the interchange only operated two directions: vehicles from T2 road entering the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway via branch two, and vehicles exiting the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway via branch N7 and branch one of T2 road.
To ensure safety, the investor installed additional 50 km/h speed limit signs, prohibition signs, traffic diversion guidance signs, painted road markings, and completed the warning system before the opening. Since noon today, the interchange's branches have been progressively opened to traffic.

Regarding tolls, the Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) announced it has adjusted its system on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway to accommodate the temporary operation plan at the Long Thanh interchange. Vehicles without entry information will have a toll transaction generated at the exit lane. For vehicles with entry data but no recorded exit after a period, the system will calculate tolls corresponding to an exit at the Long Thanh interchange. Tolls for oto with fewer than 9 seats entering or exiting this interchange range from 45,000 to 66,000 dong.

Construction on the Long Thanh interchange began in 7/2023. The project is part of a transport complex involving two ongoing construction projects: component two of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway and connecting roads T1 and T2, which are part of component three of the Long Thanh Airport project.
The interchange has seen several partial openings. On 29/4, it allowed vehicles from Ba Ria traveling on the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway to enter branch N7, pass through T2 road, and connect to the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway towards central Ho Chi Minh City. Yesterday, branch two of T2 road was also opened, allowing vehicles from the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway to access the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway towards Ba Ria, bypassing the Vo Nguyen Giap interchange, which is about 18 km away.
