Nearly 14,000 workers continue Long Thanh airport construction through national day holiday

Nearly 14,000 engineers and workers, along with 3,000 pieces of equipment, are working through the September 2 National Day holiday at the Long Thanh airport construction site to keep the project on track.

Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the project investor, reported on 30/8 that at the passenger terminal – the heart of the project – the contractor consortium has mobilized over 6,000 workers, maintaining 24/7 construction.

The foundation and four reinforced concrete floors of the terminal building are essentially complete, with many areas now undergoing basic construction, flooring, and tiling. Viewed from above, the lotus-shaped roof is now visible.

Concurrently, equipment systems for terminal operations, such as baggage handling systems (BHS), visual docking guidance systems (VDGS), escalators, and moving walkways (ES/MW), have arrived on site, with some components being installed.

Over 3,200 workers are also working through the holiday on other project components, including internal transportation, technical infrastructure, fuel systems, the reservoir, power supply, and the cargo terminal. ACV stated that all components are scheduled for completion by the end of this year.

The investor has also deployed sufficient on-site personnel for supervision to ensure safe and high-quality construction.

The Long Thanh airport project, a national key project, covers an area of 5,000 hectares with a total investment of nearly 336,630 trillion VND. Upon completion of all three phases, the airport will have a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo annually. Phase one, scheduled to open in 2026, is expected to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo each year.

The Prime Minister has urged all parties to accelerate progress, aiming for the airport's inauguration on 19/12/2025.
