On 19/12, Tran Van Dao, Vice Chairman of Ia Mo Commune People's Committee, announced that local authorities are reviewing an adoption request for the abandoned baby girl from a family, pending verification of their financial stability and adherence to procedures.
According to Dao, this family visited the baby while she was undergoing treatment at the Provincial Children's Hospital and expressed their desire to care for her. However, authorities will directly visit their home to assess the situation before making a decision on the adoption.
After extensive public announcements, no relatives came forward to claim her. The baby was then issued a birth certificate with the name Nguyen Thien An.

Previously, late on 8/12, a group of workers discovered a baby girl, weighing 3,2 kg with her umbilical cord still attached, lying under a layer of soil at a rubber plantation in Ia Mo commune. They kept her warm and notified authorities.
Workers transferred the baby girl to a hospital, approximately 100 km from the area. She suffered from respiratory failure, facial scratches suspected to be from a dog, and numerous insect bites on her legs.
After 10 days of treatment, the baby's health has stabilized, and she can bottle-feed independently. The hospital plans to monitor her for a few more days before coordinating with authorities and the social welfare center to complete discharge procedures.
