Nguyen Van Chien and Bui Hoai Son appointed deputy heads of Central Propaganda Department

Nguyen Van Chien, head of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee's propaganda department, and Bui Hoai Son, a full-time member of the National Assembly's culture and social affairs committee, have been mobilized and appointed as deputy heads of the Central Propaganda Department by the Secretariat.

The Secretariat's decision to appoint Nguyen Van Chien and Bui Hoai Son was announced on the afternoon of 18/9.

Nguyen Van Chien, 46, is from Hung Yen. He holds a bachelor's degree in literature, a master's degree in Han-Nom, and a doctor's degree in Han-Nom. He began his career as a staff member at the Hung Yen Museum, later serving as director and secretary to the head of the Central Propaganda Department, then director and secretary to the permanent secretary of the Secretariat, followed by director and secretary to a Politburo member. He also held positions as director of general affairs at the Central Party Office and head of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee's internal affairs department. He has served as head of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee's propaganda department since 7/2025.

Bui Hoai Son, 51, is from Phu Tho. He holds an associate professor title, a doctor's degree in culture, a master's degree in heritage and art management, a master's degree in English, and a bachelor's degree in sociology. He was a National Assembly delegate for the 15th and 16th terms.

Son pursued postgraduate studies at the University of North London in the United Kingdom. He then worked at the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts, serving as deputy director before becoming director. Later, he became a full-time member of the National Assembly's culture and social affairs committee.

The Central Propaganda Department serves as an advisory and assisting body to the Central Party Committee, and directly and regularly to the Politburo and the Secretariat. Its mandate includes advising on the Party's major guidelines, policies, and strategies in propaganda; Party building concerning politics, ideology, and ethics; perfecting socialist democracy; and fostering the close relationship between the Party and the people. It also functions as a specialized professional agency for the Party's propaganda work.

At the conference, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu also presented the Secretariat's decision to mobilize and appoint Nguyen The Manh, deputy head of the Central Policy and Strategy Department, as deputy secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Nguyen Thanh Binh, deputy head of the Central Organization Department, was appointed deputy secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Nguyen Van Thang, deputy head of the Government Office, was appointed deputy secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
