Around 12:00 on 17/9, residents fishing in the Chet Say canal, Phuoc Thanh residential area, Phu Tan ward, reported to authorities after their fishing net snagged on a pickup truck submerged at the bottom of the canal.

Authorities subsequently salvaged the vehicle, identifying its license plate as 51C-383.51. It was registered to a company in TP HCM. Inside the truck, police discovered human bone fragments, personal belongings, and identification documents. These documents belonged to a 45-year-old man, a permanent resident of Hanh Trung commune, Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province.

The truck was heavily caked in mud, its body severely deformed, with a shattered windshield and a dented hood.

Authorities in Vinh Long province are currently examining the human remains to identify the victim and determine the cause of the incident.
