Noi Bai airport sees record passenger numbers for national day

Noi Bai airport is expected to welcome nearly 110,000 passengers on 30/8, with 638 flights, a 20% increase compared to the same period last year, as people flock to Hanoi for the national day celebrations.

During the national day holiday on 2/9, passenger traffic through Noi Bai airport is expected to increase significantly over the five days from 29/8 to 2/9. On 30/8, the airport anticipates nearly 110,000 passengers, including 66,000 domestic and 44,000 international passengers, the highest number ever recorded. According to Noi Bai International Airport, the increase is due to many international delegations arriving for the grand celebration and the opening of new international routes.

To meet this demand, the airport and airlines are maintaining 24/7 operations at the Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) and have deployed additional staff to handle any potential issues. Some overnight aircraft have been relocated to nearby airports to make room for international flights.

At Tan Son Nhat airport, the daily passenger volume is projected to reach 125,000, with 75,000 domestic and 50,000 international passengers, a 6% increase compared to normal days. On the peak days of 30/8 and 2/9, the airport will handle about 750 flights with 130,000 passengers. All domestic flights have been transferred to terminal T3, increasing service capacity.

During the holiday period, airports across the country expect to welcome over 1.8 million passengers on approximately 11,000 flights, concentrated at Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, and Phu Quoc. These airports have completed preparations for infrastructure, equipment, and personnel. They have also implemented biometrics and VNeID at security checkpoints to expedite passenger processing.

Ground staff have been deployed at key areas to manage passenger flow. Aviation security has been elevated to level 1, with increased baggage screening, camera surveillance, and continuous patrols to ensure absolute safety during this peak period.
