Party Central Committee secretary Trinh Van Quyet nominated for 16th national assembly

Trinh Van Quyet, secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, garnered 100% voter support at his workplace for nomination as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly, 2026-2031 term.

On 12/1, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission held a conference where voters at the workplace nominated Trinh Van Quyet and Duong Minh Tuan, deputy head of Local Department 3, as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

Trinh Van Quyet, 59, hails from Hai Phong and holds a bachelor's degree in Party Building and State Administration. The Politburo appointed him head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission in early November 2025. Before this, he served in the military, notably as chairman of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army. He is a member and secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee.

These nominations followed earlier conferences. On 8/1, the Ministry of National Defense nominated General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Two days later, on 10/1, the Ministry of Public Security put forward General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, for the same election.
