Photo of a woman in a martyr's grave

A discolored and peeling portrait of a young woman was discovered by authorities while opening a martyr's grave to collect DNA samples in Ha Tien.

Teams 1 and 3 of the Steering Committee 515 of An Giang province discovered the photo while opening a grave at Ha Tien Martyrs' Cemetery.

Upon discovery, the photo was stained with soil, faded, and showed signs of peeling. After restoration, the portrait revealed a young woman wearing a dark shirt, with parted hair adorned with several clips.

Authorities have not yet identified the woman or her relationship to the martyr. However, the photo is considered a valuable clue that could aid in identifying the remains.

The Steering Committee 515 of An Giang province urges anyone with information about the person in the photo or related details to contact 0976 222 525.

As of 25/8, authorities in An Giang have opened 4,368 martyr graves, collecting 3,233 biological samples for DNA testing. In 1,135 cases, samples could not be obtained due to various reasons, including 117 graves found to contain no remains.

The DNA sampling is part of the "500-day-night Campaign", which runs from 15/3/2026 to 27/7/2027. This initiative aims to gather approximately 7,000 martyr remains and identify them from 18,000 biological samples.
