Around 7:50 PM, a Hung Yen passenger bus traveling north collided with the back of a Quang Tri truck heading in the same direction near the Mui Trau tunnel (Hai Van ward, Da Nang). The impact crushed the front of the bus, wedging it against the truck and trapping several passengers inside.

The Da Nang Police Department's Fire Prevention and Fighting, Rescue and Rescue Police dispatched a rescue vehicle, a fire truck, and a special task force to the scene. Police quickly broke the bus windows and extracted 11 passengers on stretchers. They also sprayed water to cool the area and prevent a fire from the fuel spilled on the road. The injured were taken to the hospital.

The bus driver's legs were pinned in the cabin. Medical personnel provided first aid on-site while police used a rescue vehicle and a large crane to stabilize the truck and separate the two vehicles. By 10:10 PM, the driver was freed and handed over to medical personnel.

Traffic on the La Son - Tuy Loan expressway resumed after more than two hours.
