Police rescue woman who jumped from Binh bridge

A 41-year-old woman who jumped from Binh bridge into the Cam river on the afternoon of 25/8 was rescued by the waterway police.

Around 2:20 p.m., a patrol team from the May Chi Waterway Police Station (Hai Phong Traffic Police Department) spotted a woman struggling in the strong current under Binh bridge.

Captain Nguyen Van Quang immediately jumped into the river with a lifebuoy and pulled the victim to safety. She was then taken to Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital for emergency treatment.

The woman, a resident of Thuy Nguyen ward, reportedly jumped from a height of over 20 meters due to family issues. Thanks to prompt medical attention, she is now conscious and out of danger.

At the time of the incident, heavy rain had caused the river level to rise in Hai Phong. Binh bridge is a large cable-stayed bridge spanning the Cam river, connecting Hai Phong city center with Thuy Nguyen district.
