Railway workers save man from oncoming train

Two quick-thinking railway employees prevented a tragedy when a young man crashed his motorbike onto the tracks in front of an express train.

Around 9:25 PM on 22/8, a young man riding a motorbike with a Ho Chi Minh City license plate crashed through a barrier at a railway crossing on Hung Vuong Street in Long Khanh ward. He fell unconscious onto the tracks just as a train was approaching.

A railway crossing guard and bystanders quickly pulled the man to safety. At the same time, another employee ran towards the oncoming SE3 train, signaling an emergency. The train driver reacted swiftly, bringing the train to a halt just in time to avoid a collision.

Nguyen Dinh Dang, deputy director of Saigon Railway Company, reported that the train was delayed for only 4 minutes before safely resuming its journey. "The two employees acted extremely quickly, preventing a serious accident," he said.

On the morning of 23/8, the company's management met with and commended the two employees, Vu Thi Dien and Tran Thi Thuy, along with the bystanders who assisted in the rescue.
