From 13/8 to 28/8, the Remains Gathering Team of the 337th Economic-Defense Corps, Military Zone 4, recovered 10 sets of soldiers' remains in Xa Re village, Khe Sanh commune. The remains, buried at a depth of 0.8-1 meters, were wrapped in body bags and included intact bones.
Recovered artifacts included intact ponchos, parachute fabric and cords, buttons, buckles, glass tubes, communication wires, bomb fragments, and AK bullet casings. Among these, an aluminum bracelet inscribed with "SH-18-15X" was found with one set of remains on 20/8.

According to experts, units from the 304th Division, 2nd Corps fought in the Khe Sanh area where the remains were found.
The search team is expanding the search area. The remains have been transferred to the Khe Sanh Commune Cultural and Spiritual Center for preservation and identification by authorities.

Previously, from 19/5 to 6/6, the Remains Gathering Team of the 337th Economic-Defense Corps recovered and interred eight sets of remains about 15 meters from Xa Re village, Khe Sanh commune.
During the Vietnam War, Quang Tri province was a fierce battleground due to its location on the temporary dividing line after the Geneva Agreements. The province has 157 cemeteries with 74,000 graves, including the Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery and Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, two of the largest in the country. These two cemeteries hold 21,130 graves.
