The Hanoi People's Committee approved the east Hoan Kiem lake park – square project in 9/2025. This initiative involves site clearance for 17 organizations and 43 households to create a clean land fund totaling approximately 21,151 square meters. The project area is bordered by Hoan Kiem lake to the west, a residential area to the north, Ly Thai To street to the east, and Tran Nguyen Han street to the south. The primary goal is to establish a transit-oriented development (TOD) zone east of Hoan Kiem lake, enhancing the city's environment. The total investment for this project is 2,841 billion VND.
In recent days, residential buildings on Dinh Tien Hoang street are undergoing relocation. Compensation plans have been agreed upon, ensuring a smooth process without issues. The east Hoan Kiem lake park – square, spanning about 2,14 hectares, is being cleared for development under a public transportation-oriented urban model.
Inside alley 61 Dinh Tien Hoang, Ms. Kim Thanh’s family is packing belongings to move to a new home. After nearly 70 years in the house, she expressed sadness and said it would take time to adjust to life in a new place.

Nguyen Van Quy, 67, residing on the second floor of a small attic in alley 61 Dinh Tien Hoang, stated that he has finished packing his belongings and is awaiting his moving day. As he lives alone, the relocation process has been relatively simple for him.

Inside alley 61 Dinh Tien Hoang, Pho Thin Bo Ho restaurant is well-known among local residents. This establishment is also slated for relocation as part of the site clearance for the east Hoan Kiem lake park – square project.

Houses on Ly Thai To street, located east of the project area, are also undergoing resident relocation. Some outer buildings have already been fenced with corrugated iron, in preparation for demolition.

In alley 24 Ly Thai To street (Hoan Kiem ward), some households have yet to relocate and continue their daily business while awaiting their move to new residences.

Having lived here for 25 years, Nguyen Bich Hanh (alley 24 Ly Thai To) stated that her family, consisting of two spouses with few belongings, has finished packing and is ready to move once transportation arrives.

Most of the equipment from Hanoi Power Corporation’s departments has been moved to its new headquarters on Vo Chi Cong street, Tay Ho ward, Hanoi. To date, 17 of 17 organizations and 42 of 43 households have agreed to compensation and resettlement support plans. The ward People's Committee has taken over premises from 8 of 17 organizations at 22 Ly Thai To, 61–63 Dinh Tien Hoang, and a portion of Hanoi Power Corporation’s area; this zone is currently fenced off, preparing for the demolition of old structures.
