On 9/1, at approximately 10h, a Russian father and son swimming off Tran Phu street, near the Bon Mua restaurant in Nha Trang ward, were suddenly swept away by waves. They struggled to swim back to shore but became exhausted and called for help. Lifeguards quickly spotted them, used rescue buoys to reach them, and brought them safely back to shore.
Later the same day, strong waves and powerful currents endangered five people, including four tourists and one local. The Nha Trang Bay Management Board's forces promptly responded, bringing the victims to shore. Some individuals, suffering from water inhalation and exhaustion, were resuscitated and regained consciousness, with no life-threatening injuries.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Khanh Hoa sea area today. Northeast winds were at level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, causing strong seas with waves reaching 2,5-3,5 meters high.
The Nha Trang Bay Management Board stated that 25 lifeguards are deployed along the Pham Van Dong and Tran Phu beaches. These lifeguards are organized into teams that regularly monitor the area and warn swimmers. Rescue forces advise residents and tourists to avoid entering the sea during high waves and to adhere to warning flags, loudspeaker announcements, and lifeguard instructions for safety.
