Smoke engulfs Nha Trang coastal hotel after passenger bus fire

A 20-seat passenger bus parked near the Muong Thanh hotel in Nha Trang ward suddenly caught fire, sending thick smoke billowing and alarming many people on the afternoon of 1/4.

The incident occurred around 10:48 am on 1/4, when a sleeper bus with a Ho Chi Minh City license plate ignited. The bus was parked near the grounds of a large hotel located on Tran Phu coastal road in Nha Trang ward.

Flames quickly engulfed the front of the bus, creating a smoke column tens of meters high. The sight caused panic among numerous tourists and residents, who promptly alerted authorities. In response, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police swiftly dispatched two vehicles and 14 officers to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Hoang, a witness sitting at a ground-floor cafe of the hotel, recounted hearing a loud explosion before seeing thick smoke. He noted that the fire's location at the back of the hotel was fortunate, preventing smoke from entering the building.

"Many residents nearby panicked when they saw the thick smoke, but the fire was put out in just a few minutes," Hoang stated.
