Around 5:10 a.m., on national highway 5, heading from Hai Phong to Hanoi, a steel truck driven by Hua Van Manh, 49, a resident of Phu Thai commune, Hai Phong city, collided with the rear of a tanker truck traveling in the same direction.
The impact severely damaged the truck's cabin, spilling steel coils onto the road and causing a traffic jam stretching over 3 km. Manh suffered a broken leg and was taken to the hospital by bystanders. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Traffic police reported that the initial cause of the accident appears to be driver inattention. At the time of the collision, the Hai Phong area was experiencing rain and thunderstorms.
