On 14/10, the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to develop a comprehensive proposal for establishing Tay Ninh as a centrally-run city. The plan outlines the roadmap and assigns various agencies to prepare the necessary documents.
According to the plan, the Department of Home Affairs will preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and sectors to compile data and draft the submission report and proposal in October. In early November, the documents will be circulated for feedback from related agencies before being reported to the Provincial People's Committee and the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee.

By 28/11 at the latest, the proposal will be presented to the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial Party Executive Committee for consideration and feedback. Based on this, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee will report to the Politburo to seek policy approval.
The development of this proposal aims to prepare the conditions, finalize documents, and progressively meet the criteria for a centrally-run city.
After merging with Long An in 2025, Tay Ninh will cover an area of over 8,500 km2 and have a population of about 3,3 million people. The province borders Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, and Cambodia, serving as a crucial connection point between the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta.

Currently, Tay Ninh is the only province among three provincial-level administrative units in the Southeast region, alongside Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai City. Dong Nai previously became a centrally-run city on 30/4.
Economically, Tay Ninh's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increased by 10,3% in the first nine months, ranking 10th among 34 provinces and cities nationwide. By 24/9, the total state budget revenue reached over 51,925 billion VND, equivalent to 96,4% of the central government's assigned estimate, marking a 33% increase compared to the same period.
