Three-wheeled vehicle carrying car causes traffic jam in Ho Chi Minh City

A male driver operating a three-wheeled vehicle carrying a bulky 5-seat car caused a traffic jam in Thoi An ward and was fined 10 million VND by police.

On 25/8, the Binh Trieu traffic police (Ho Chi Minh City Police Department) issued a fine to a 40-year-old male driver for three violations: carrying oversized cargo, driving without a license, and operating an unregistered vehicle, according to Decree 168/2024.

In the afternoon of 22/8, the driver was operating the three-wheeled vehicle with the old car positioned horizontally across the lane on Thanh Xuan 25 street. This blocked the path of many motorbikes, disrupting traffic. Citizens recorded the incident and posted it on social media.

The driver told police he had purchased the old car from a resident on that street. Instead of dismantling it, he secured it onto his three-wheeled vehicle to transport it home. In addition to the fine, authorities confiscated the three-wheeled vehicle because it lacked clear origins and was a homemade vehicle that did not meet traffic safety standards.
