Nguyen Van Duoc, Chairman of the TP HCM People's Committee, on the morning of 29/6, handed over appointment and reassignment decisions to numerous leaders across departments, localities, and public service units under the city's administration.
Le Van Thang, 47, an associate professor and doctor, was appointed director of the TP HCM department of science and technology. Thang is a petrochemical engineer with a doctorate in materials science and technology from France, and has worked for many years at Vietnam National University, TP HCM. Before this new role, he served as vice rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and rector of International University.

Thang's predecessor, Lam Dinh Thang, 45, was reassigned as director of the department of ethnic and religious affairs, replacing Nguyen Van Dong. Previously, Dong was dismissed as a member of the city People's Committee by the TP HCM People's Council.
Lam Dinh Thang holds a master's degree in human resource management and a bachelor's degree in information technology. He previously served as director of the department of information and communication, then as director of the department of science and technology when TP HCM reorganized its departments. After the city merged with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, he continued in this role.
Also in this round of reassignments, Nguyen Trong Hao, Party Committee Secretary and Rector of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, was reassigned as director of Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital. Ngo Quoc Dat, Rector of TP HCM University of Medicine and Pharmacy, was reassigned to serve as rector of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.

The TP HCM People's Committee also reassigned 22 deputy directors from various departments to local areas, affiliated public service units, or the TP HCM City Party Committee Office to carry out personnel work as regulated.
The officials receiving decisions belong to the departments of: science and technology, industry and trade, ethnic and religious affairs, education and training, agriculture and environment, finance, justice, culture and sports, and construction.
Additionally, Truong Thi Minh Dung, Chairwoman of Cau Ong Lanh ward; Dang Quang Huy, Chairman of Long Huong ward; Nguyen Thuy Trinh, Chairwoman of Vinh Hoi ward; and Huynh Phi Khanh, Chairman of Ho Tram commune, were reassigned to the TP HCM City Party Committee Office to carry out personnel work.
Speaking at the decision handover ceremony, Nguyen Van Duoc, Chairman of the TP HCM People's Committee, urged the newly appointed officials to quickly grasp their duties, demonstrate responsibility, and foster unity within their agencies and units. He stated that the team of officials needs to contribute to achieving double-digit growth and building a rapidly developing, sustainable TP HCM.
