Truck crashes into road sign, causing motorcyclist to fall

A 5-ton truck crashed into a median strip on Highway 1, knocking down a road sign in front of several motorcyclists on the morning of 27/8.

Around 7 a.m., a male driver operating a 5-ton truck (without cargo) was traveling on Highway 1 from the Song Than overpass towards the An Suong roundabout. Near the Thu Duc agricultural wholesale market in Tam Binh ward, the truck suddenly veered onto the concrete median, striking and breaking a road sign, before overturning and blocking the lane.

As the road sign fell, a nearby motorcyclist was unable to avoid it and fell to the ground with his motorbike. The victim suffered minor scratches and was able to continue his journey after righting his motorbike. The truck driver was unharmed.

The accident disrupted traffic on Highway 1 for about an hour. Traffic police arrived at the scene to investigate and remove the truck. According to the police, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed and inattention, leading to the incident.

Highway 1 through Ho Chi Minh City is divided into three sections. The first section is 21 km long, running from the Thu Duc intersection (the old Tram 2 intersection) to the An Suong intersection. The second section runs from An Suong to An Lac, spanning over 14 km. The third section extends 9.4 km from An Lac to the Long An border. These three sections were renamed Do Muoi, Le Duc Anh, and Le Kha Phieu at the end of 2024.
