On the morning of 9/1, a luxury passenger train, the Hoa Phuong Do, collided with a truck in Lai Khe commune. The impact left the truck's cabin severely damaged and its two occupants with serious injuries.
The truck, driven by Vu Ngoc Bien, 37, was carrying Nguyen Van Huy, 45. The vehicle was crossing the railway tracks, attempting to reach National Highway 5, when the accident occurred.

The force of the collision pinned the truck against a concrete median strip, completely crushing its cabin.
Authorities spent over an hour clearing the scene. Following the clearance, train HP1 resumed its journey to Hai Phong station.
Investigations by authorities determined the primary cause of the accident was the driver's lack of attention while crossing the railway. The truck was using an unauthorized residential crossing that lacked both a barrier and a guard.
