A collision occurred on 14/6 at approximately 8:40 AM in Lan Ha Bay, when the iron boat Minh Anh, carrying 31 passengers, struck the wooden boat Bay Hoa from behind in the Van Boi area. The Bay Hoa, captained by Nguyen Van Bay, was carrying 10 tourists. This incident was reported by the National Civil Defense Steering Committee on the afternoon of 14/6.
The Bay Hoa subsequently sank. Nearby vessels and authorities quickly responded, rescuing all crew members and passengers and bringing them ashore for emergency care. Tragically, a 43-year-old female tourist from Hung Yen died.

Authorities confirmed that both vessels possessed valid inspection certificates. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Lan Ha Bay, situated east of Cat Ba Island and south of Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province, is known for its nearly 400 islands. Its numerous sandy beaches, nestled among rocky mountains, offer tranquil waters ideal for swimming. In 5/2020, the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club Association recognized Lan Ha as a top bay.
