Residents discovered a male body caught in a drainage culvert; authorities expanded the search and recovered a car and a female body on the morning of 23/2.

The body of a man, later identified as Chau Van Bao, 25, from K Bang commune, Gia Lai province, was found caught in a drainage culvert in Van Phong ditch (Kon River), Phu Lac hamlet, Binh An commune, Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province. Authorities confirmed his identity through verification.

Approximately 100 m from the initial discovery site, officials located a Kia Morning car, bearing a Ho Chi Minh City license plate, submerged downstream of the Van Phong dam.

Suspecting additional victims might be present, local commune authorities collaborated with the Van Phong dam operator to temporarily halt water flow. This action allowed for an expanded search area, during which the body of Trinh Thi Ngoc Hung, 31, a resident of Kon Giang commune, Gia Lai province, was discovered about 500 m from the initial scene.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
