At 12h, national highway N2, passing through Thanh Phuoc commune (formerly Thanh Hoa district, Long An, now Tay Ninh), was severely congested. Due to the narrow road and heavy traffic in both lanes, thousands of cars and motorbikes moved slowly along the several-kilometer stretch.
National highway N2 is part of the Ho Chi Minh highway, extending about 440 km from Chon Thanh (Dong Nai) to Rach Soi (An Giang) and ending at Dat Mui (Ca Mau). The route passes through Dong Nai, TP HCM, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Can Tho, and Ca Mau. This route helps alleviate traffic on national highway 1 and expressways connecting the southeastern provinces to the Mekong Delta and vice versa.
Vehicles queued up on national highway N2 section passing through Thanh Phuoc commune. Many families with young children stopped at roadside refreshment stalls to rest and wait for the congestion to ease.

Heading north, around 13h, the volume of cars on the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet expressway, passing through Lam Dong province, began to increase. Most vehicles traveled from north to south, mainly small cars and passenger buses. However, traffic flowed normally, and no congestion occurred. During Tet, expressways were flexibly rerouted and opened/closed to reduce prolonged congestion along the route.
Meanwhile, on national highway 1, passing through Ham Thuan Nam commune (Lam Dong), many cars accumulated because traffic police temporarily closed access roads to the Vinh Hao and Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressways to prevent congestion on the final day of the Tet holiday.
As today marks the final day of the Tet holiday with heavy traffic, the Traffic Police Department planned to close lanes on some expressways to prioritize vehicles entering Hanoi and TP HCM. In the north, police would prohibit traffic from Hanoi to Thanh Hoa on the Phap Van – Cau Gie expressway.
In the south, the TP HCM - Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway would prohibit traffic from TP HCM to Long Thanh; the TP HCM – Trung Luong – My Thuan route would temporarily prohibit traffic from TP HCM to Trung Luong.
