Two former Thanh Hoa province vice chairmen expelled from communist party

Former Thanh Hoa Province People's Committee Vice Chairmen Nguyen Duc Quyen and Le Duc Giang have been expelled from the communist party by the Party Secretariat for violations during their terms.

The Politburo and the Party Secretariat, at their meeting on 22/8, found that Nguyen Duc Quyen, during his time as standing vice chairman of the Thanh Hoa Province People's Committee, violated party regulations and state laws regarding land allocation and leasing decisions, illegally collecting land use fees.

Le Duc Giang, during his tenure as vice chairman of the Thanh Hoa Province People's Committee, violated party regulations and state laws in performing his assigned duties and responsibilities, abusing his position and power while on duty.

In addition, the Politburo and the Party Secretariat determined that Le Hong Son, during his time as Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, violated party regulations and state laws by illegally interfering in investment decisions for foreign language teaching equipment procurement by the People's Committees of districts and counties.

Ngo Cong Tuoc, during his time as Deputy Secretary of the U Minh Thuong District Party Committee and Chairman of the U Minh Thuong District People's Committee in Kien Giang Province, violated party regulations and state laws by signing documents related to the implementation of the U Minh Thuong District Administrative Center construction project, contrary to legal regulations.

Quyen, Giang, Son, and Tuoc were found to have degraded political ideology, morality, and lifestyle; violated party regulations and state laws in performing their assigned duties and responsibilities; and violated regulations on what party members are not allowed to do and their exemplary responsibilities. This caused very serious consequences, public discontent, and severely damaged the prestige of the party organization and their agencies and units.

Therefore, the Party Secretariat decided to expel Nguyen Duc Quyen, Le Duc Giang, Le Hong Son, and Ngo Cong Tuoc from the party. They also requested that the relevant authorities impose administrative disciplinary actions promptly and in conjunction with the party's disciplinary measures.

Quyen was prosecuted in June on charges of violating regulations on the management and use of state assets, causing loss and waste. Giang was arrested in July on charges of abusing his position and power while on duty.

At today's meeting, the Politburo and the Party Secretariat concluded that the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Health for the 2021-2026 term (until 2/2025) lacked responsibility in leadership and direction. As a result, the Ministry of Health and some party organizations and members committed violations and shortcomings in leading, directing, developing, and completing laws and organizing the implementation of state management functions on food safety. Many officials and party members at the Food Safety Department experienced a decline in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, violating party regulations and state laws in performing their assigned duties and responsibilities; engaging in very serious and prolonged corruption and negativity. Therefore, the Politburo decided to reprimand the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Health for the 2021-2026 term.
