Two National Assembly deputies resign

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has accepted the resignations of Lai The Nguyen and Tran Quoc Nam.

On the afternoon of 22/9, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly met and voted to accept the resignations of Lai The Nguyen, a representative from Thanh Hoa province, and Tran Quoc Nam, a representative from Khanh Hoa province.

The National Assembly Office later released a press statement, stating the decision was made in accordance with the Constitution, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, opinions of competent authorities, and the report of the Delegate Work Committee.

He served as the chairman of the Ninh Thuan People's Committee and head of the province's National Assembly delegation. Following the merger of Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa on 1/7, he was appointed deputy secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and chairman of the Khanh Hoa People's Committee. In early September, Mr. Nam submitted his resignation for personal reasons.

The 15th National Assembly initially had 499 deputies; approximately 20 have since resigned.
