On the morning of 11/9, in Hanoi, General Phan Van Giang, minister of National Defense, hosted a welcome ceremony and talks with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler.
General Phan Van Giang assessed that defense cooperation between the two countries has achieved many positive results, notably in training, defense industry, military trade, and participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations. He proposed that the two sides continue to coordinate in promoting delegation exchanges at all levels; strengthen cooperation in training, defense industry, and peacekeeping; and support each other at multilateral mechanisms and forums.
Minister Phan Van Giang also expressed his hope that Vietnam and Turkey would explore promoting cooperation and exchanging experiences in the fields of naval and air forces, cybersecurity, responding to non-traditional challenges, engineering, and mine clearance. He thanked Minister Yasar Guler for sending a delegation of 11 defense industry enterprises to participate in the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024, affirming that Vietnam is ready to welcome Turkish business delegations to participate in the next expos.

Minister Yasar Guler thanked the Vietnamese side for the welcome and offered congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, 2/9. He affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Turkey in the Asia-Pacific region, emphasizing that the visit of the Vietnamese Prime Minister to Turkey in 11/2023 created momentum for the development of bilateral relations. Minister Yasar Guler agreed to promote defense cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
He said that for the first time, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense sent a staff officer for training at the Vietnam National Defense Academy, and will continue to send officers to study Vietnamese at the Military Science Academy, as well as receive Vietnamese trainees and officers to participate in training courses in Turkey.
