The passenger, Le Thi Tuyet Ngan, 34 weeks pregnant and residing at street 26 in Hanoi, began experiencing abdominal pain, bleeding, and signs of labor as the train passed through the Vinh – Thanh Hoa section. Her husband requested to disembark at the nearest station for emergency medical care, prompting the train chief to contact authorities and request a stop at Cau Giat station in Nghe An.
However, facing rapid labor progression as the train neared the station, the train chief made the critical decision to proceed with the delivery on board to avoid danger. The train crew quickly mobilized passengers with medical expertise to assist. Ms. Ngan safely delivered a healthy baby boy weighing approximately 2,1 kg.
Following the successful birth, the train crew collaborated with Cau Giat station staff to arrange immediate medical transport for the new mother and baby. An ambulance transported them to a local hospital. The train resumed its journey after stopping at the station at 23h34, resulting in a 32-minute delay from its scheduled arrival.
