"We were in the club's trophy room and couldn't find the silver plate anywhere," Kompany told Bild on 20/5. "It was then that I realized with a start: 'Ah, it's still at my house.' The trophy was prominently displayed in the kitchen. My wife had to rush it over. I completely forgot someone had given me the trophy the night before and told me, 'Vinnie, you need to bring this tomorrow!'"
The 40-year-old coach realized his mistake just in time as the team prepared to move to Munich City Hall in the central Marienplatz square. After he called for help, Kompany's wife, Carla Higgs, quickly drove the forgotten trophy from their kitchen, where it sat next to the toaster, directly to Marienplatz. There, according to regulations, Higgs handed the trophy to four police officers and a security guard, who then transported it through the City Hall's back entrance.
By then, the entire team was already on the second floor of City Hall, receiving honorary medals from the new Munich Mayor Dominik Krause in the grand hall. The Bundesliga trophy only arrived in the auditorium during Bayern President Herbert Hainer's speech.

Once the trophy was safely in hand, the entire Bayern team moved to the City Hall balcony to celebrate in front of thousands of fans below. Kompany and his players danced, sang, and passed the trophy around, marking another successful domestic season for the Bavarian club.
Beyond Kompany's trophy mishap, Bayern's 17/5 celebration also encountered another incident: a prank by fans of rival city club 1860 Munich.
As the Bayern team and thousands of fans were caught up in the celebrations, a large banner featuring the club's logo unfurled and passed among the sea of fans in Marienplatz. However, instead of the original inscription "FC Bayern Munchen", the outer circle of the emblem had been changed to "FC Bauern Hurensohne", meaning "FC Farmers, you sons of bitches".

That provocative message spread globally as aerial footage appeared live on Bayern's YouTube channel. How the flag was successfully smuggled in remains unanswered, but the identity of those behind it was quite clear: the number "1860" was printed in one corner of the banner. From the Munich City Hall balcony, several Bayern players spotted the prank. They immediately alerted Stephan Lehmann, the event host and veteran announcer at Allianz Arena. Lehmann then asked the fans below to "immediately retrieve that banner." The flag was promptly confiscated and folded up.
"It's a pity our fans can't get revenge, because it will be a long time until 1860 Munich has a title to celebrate," Bayern President Herbert Hainer told Bild with a sarcastic tone.
1860 Munich has not won the Bundesliga trophy since 1966 and has been mired in crisis throughout the modern era. They were relegated from the Bundesliga in 2004. Due to financial instability and a string of poor results, the team once dropped as low as the 4th division in Germany before stabilizing in the 3rd division. They have played in this league since 2018 and finished their most recent season in 8th place.
Following the Bundesliga championship celebration, Bayern will focus on the upcoming German Cup final against Stuttgart on 24/5, aiming to complete a double.
