Coach Park Hang-seo loses temper, storms field in Thailand

Coach Park Hang-seo fumed after witnessing a confrontation involving his Kanchanaburi FC players during a 2-0 friendly victory against Eastern SC at home on 29/7.

The incident occurred in the first half at the Kanchanaburi province stadium. A home player was fouled, leading to a scuffle between both sides. As referees intervened, Coach Park Hang-seo rushed onto the field, visibly angry, repeatedly pointing at an opposing player. Assistant Coach Lee Jung-soo followed closely, constantly raising his hands to intervene and push the head coach back to the team's technical area. A member of Eastern SC also gestured, hoping Coach Park would calm down.

Towards the end of the match, a Kanchanaburi player was fouled outside the penalty area. Coach Park Hang-seo turned to look at the opposing coaching staff, then raised his hands high, expressing his bewilderment. Afterwards, he made a whistling gesture, then again raised his hands and pouted.

On its fanpage, Kanchanaburi posted an enthusiastic update, asking fans to describe the match in three words. Many accounts responded with: "Park Hang-seo", "Coach Park fights", "Love Coach Park", and "Coach still hot".

The Korean tactician is known for his fiery temper, which has been evident throughout his career, from his home country to Vietnam.

While leading the national team and U23 Vietnam, Coach Park frequently lost his temper with referees, coaches, players, or opposing fans. Notable incidents include a clash with assistant coach Sasa Todic, over alleged insults, after Vietnam's 0-0 draw with Thailand in the World Cup 2022 qualifier – Asia region at My Dinh Stadium in 2019. Later that year, he reacted strongly to the main referee and received a direct red card in Vietnam's 3-0 victory over Indonesia in the SEA Games 30 final. In the second leg of the AFF Cup (now ASEAN Cup) 2021 semi-final, Coach Park also grew angry, believing defender Theerathon Bunmathan displayed provocative behavior after Vietnam lost 0-2 on aggregate.

Coach Park concluded his tenure leading Vietnam in 1/2023. In mid-2025, he accepted the role of Vice President of the Korea Football Association (KFA), but resigned when the national team exited the World Cup 2026 at the group stage.

Since 10/7, Coach Park Hang-seo has been in Thailand to officially take charge of Kanchanaburi FC, a Thai League 2 club equivalent to Vietnam's First Division. He previously signed a two-year contract with the goal of promoting the team to Thai League 1.

After approximately two weeks of preparation, Kanchanaburi began a series of friendly matches. The team successively defeated Thonburi United 3-2 on 24/7, Samut Songkram City 1-0 on 28/7, and Hong Kong's Eastern SC 2-0 on 29/7.

Kanchanaburi will face PT Satun FC in their Thai League 2 season opener on 6/9.
