Novak Djokovic disclosed on football coach Slaven Bilic's podcast on 29/12 that he initially perceived Roger Federer as "cold and distant." He recalled thinking, "At the time, I told myself it was fine, this wasn't an issue to worry about."
Fans observed Federer's discomfort when Djokovic first joined the professional tour. Many recall an incident where Federer yelled at Srdjan, Djokovic's father, during a match. However, their relationship improved over time.

Djokovic highlighted a distinct difference in his initial perceptions of Federer and Nadal. "I always felt I understood Rafa better," he explained. "Perhaps our similar age made things easier. I always welcomed them. My attitude towards them never changed; only their attitudes towards me evolved. I admired them and consistently showed it. I still view Roger and Rafa as individuals who paved my path to the top."
Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic dominated tennis for over 15 years, giving rise to the "Big 3" era. This trio claimed 66 of 72 Grand Slams from Wimbledon 2004 to the US Open 2023. Their peak, from 2005 to 2020, saw one of the three champions in 61 of 64 major events.
Despite their fierce rivalry, the relationships among Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic warmed significantly as their careers neared an end. This was particularly evident at the Laver Cup 2022, Federer's farewell event, and Nadal's recent tribute ceremony at Roland Garros. The three have also consistently praised each other in the media over recent years.
Djokovic remains the only active player among the trio, aiming to extend his record Grand Slam tally to 25. Nadal retired in 2024, concluding his career with 22 Grand Slams. Federer, the Swiss former player, retired in 2022, having secured 20 major titles.
