Under the agreement, FPT Play will lead the production and broadcasting of all matches in the Vietnam Professional Basketball League (VBA) from 2026 to 2030.

The company announced that starting with the 2026 season, it will pilot high-quality VBA match productions. These productions will adhere to standards using 9-10 cameras and feature two dedicated commentators on-site for each match. 4K image quality will be applied to certain key matches. Concurrently, FPT Play will collaborate with VBA to implement various accompanying activities throughout each season, spanning before, during, and after games.

Nguyen Van Khoa, chief executive officer of FPT Corporation, stated that the company pursues a strategy of content rejuvenation and diversification. Basketball is identified as one of the priorities within the sports segment, aiming to bring fans many tournaments, from amateur to professional, both domestic and international.

"By partnering with VBA, we aim to build a sustainable, creative basketball ecosystem that fosters strong connections with fans," Khoa said. "We also seek to nurture young Vietnamese basketball talents from across the country."

Through this partnership, FPT Play expects to introduce new approaches to Vietnamese professional basketball. This will involve utilizing interactive technology to enhance the viewing experience and increase real-time connectivity. Fans can directly connect and share emotions with the community nationwide through interactive activities such as commenting, voting, predicting, and participating in mini-games during matches.

The VBA 2026 season continues 10 years of professional basketball development. The 11th season carries the theme "Where talent reaches legendary status - Inspiring a new generation".

The league will maintain its 5x5 home-and-away competition format, featuring six teams: Hanoi Buffaloes, Danang Dragons, Nha Trang Dolphins, Ho Chi Minh City Wings, Saigon Heat, and Cantho Catfish.

Concurrently, VBA also introduced the Draft Combine Series 2026, the largest athlete selection event to date. This series will take place over four phases: The first phase is a selection tour at universities in Hanoi and TP HCM (30/3-3/4). The next phase is the Rising Camp training camp (6-8/4); followed by Combine Challenges, featuring a series of individual challenges and a 3x3 tournament (9-11/4). The event series will conclude with the VBA Rookie Draft (14/4).

VBA is Vietnam's leading professional basketball league, organized with the goal of developing basketball in a professional, modern, and sustainable direction. The VBA 2026 season is expected to commence in May 2026.
