Japan and Sweden enter their final group F match of World Cup 2026 aiming for a top two finish to secure a spot in the knockout round. Coach Hajime Moriyasu's team is in impressive form after drawing 2-2 with Netherlands and defeating Tunisia 4-0. They now have the opportunity to remain unbeaten in the World Cup group stage for the second time in their history, following their co-hosting performance in 2002.

Japan's strength lies in its versatile attack, with eight players contributing to goals. Forward Ayase Ueda has scored two goals and provided one assist, while Daichi Kamada found the net in both of their first two matches. Meanwhile, Sweden began with a 5-1 victory over Tunisia but then lost to Netherlands by the same scoreline. Despite Alexander Isak's impressive performance with one goal and three assists, the Scandinavian team's defense showed vulnerabilities, conceding five goals from seven opposition shots on target.
According to Opta's supercomputer, Japan is favored with a 52,7% chance of winning, compared to Sweden's 22,2%. This will also be the first time the two teams meet at a World Cup.
