Quy Nhon is the origin of VnExpress. In 2019, the system's first race, fully named VnExpress Marathon Luminous Quy Nhon 2019, was held here. The race featured 5,000 athletes competing in four distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km.

Over six seasons, Nguyen Tat Thanh Square has consistently served as the start and finish line. Compared to 2019, this area has undergone significant infrastructure changes. An Duong Vuong, Nguyen Hue, and Xuan Dieu streets were expanded. Lighting systems were installed more densely and brightly. Many trees were planted to enhance the landscape.

Xuan Dieu Street, Quy Nhon's coastal arterial road, always comprised a significant portion of the race routes over six seasons. In 2020, the beach along Xuan Dieu Street was still sparse. Looking towards the Ghenh Rang Tien Sa scenic spot, buildings were still few and far between.

By 2025, this area saw the rise of many hotels, resorts, and parks. Quy Nhon transformed into a vibrant urban center.

Over the seasons, VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon has consistently received support from the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, various departments and agencies, police, medical, and youth volunteer forces. Notably, the race has always been embraced by local residents.

The race has also encouraged the local community's sports spirit. From spectators unfamiliar with running events, many Quy Nhon residents have trained to become runners.
Over six seasons, roads connecting Phuong Mai Peninsula were built, making the race experience increasingly convenient.

Over six years, VnExpress Marathon has become integral to Quy Nhon's transformation. The seventh season will take place on 13/9, featuring three distances: 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km, continuing to invite runners to explore the coastal city from new perspectives.
