An Giang warns against unauthorized tourism on Dai mountain

The Tri Ton commune People's Committee advises tourists to avoid certain areas of Dai mountain due to hazardous routes and unlicensed tourism services.

The Tri Ton commune People's Committee issued a warning on 31/8 regarding unauthorized tourism activities on Dai mountain. For over one month, the slopes of Dai mountain in Ro Leng hamlet have been promoted on tourism channels, attracting numerous visitors.

These unauthorized activities include many households setting up temporary stalls and eateries. Additionally, unauthorized motorbike taxi services have proliferated, transporting visitors along narrow, steep, and dangerous roads, particularly during rainy weather. These routes lead to unauthorized stops like Co Vui restaurant on the ascent, posing significant risks to tourists.

Dai mountain, also known as Ngoa Long Son, spans about 8 km and is the longest mountain in An Giang's Bay Nui region. According to the Tri Ton commune People's Committee, this area is designated as protective forest land. The path leading up the mountain was created by locals for personal travel and transporting agricultural products, and it has not been officially opened for tourism.

Authorities advise tourists not to independently organize, participate in, promote, or facilitate unauthorized tourism activities in the area. Local residents are prohibited from setting up stalls, soliciting, competing for customers, or collecting illegal service fees. Officials have also instructed the cessation of all unauthorized vehicle operations transporting visitors on the mountain. Continued violations will result in legal action.

Tri Ton is already known for attractions such as Ta Pa lake, Ta Pa mountain pagoda, Tram road, Phung Hoang Son, and its famous grilled chicken dish. The local authorities are currently proposing that the An Giang Department of Tourism assist in planning Dai mountain as an official tourist destination.
