In recent days, residents of Bai Son hamlet, Tong Son commune, have reinforced dozens of bamboo poles inside Bai Son communal house to mitigate the risk of collapse. This site, a provincial-level cultural relic, was recognized in 1996.

Observations show that many wooden columns and rafters inside the communal house have rotted and warped after prolonged use. The entire interior is currently supported by a temporary system of bamboo poles placed in areas at risk of instability.
Hoang Ngoc Toan, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Bai Son hamlet, stated that the communal house was built during the Nguyen Dynasty. It features a 'Dinh' (T-shaped) architectural layout, comprising a five-bay front hall, two side wings, and a one-bay sanctuary.
Beyond its traditional architectural value, Bai Son communal house is also linked to the local revolutionary history. According to preserved documents, it served as a meeting place for the first armed self-defense combat team of the former Ha Trung district, part of the Bai Son base established in 1944.

After more than a century of existence and exposure to weather, many parts of the relic are now degraded and have not undergone comprehensive restoration.
"Residents hope the relic will be restored soon to ensure safety and preserve its historical and cultural value," Toan said.
According to Toan, due to safety concerns, many community activities and local festivals are no longer held inside the communal house but have been moved to the communal courtyard.
Leaders of Tong Son Commune People's Committee stated that Bai Son communal house once attracted many researchers and tourists to visit and learn about its architectural history. The locality is developing a proposal for relevant agencies to consider implementing a restoration and embellishment project for the Bai Son communal house relic.

Given the risk of the communal house collapsing, Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead in coordination with Tong Son Commune People's Committee and related units to urgently inspect and verify the relic's current condition.
Tung requested the units to immediately implement urgent protective measures in accordance with cultural heritage law to ensure public safety and preserve the relic's current state before an optimal solution is found.
