Can Tho attracts over 4 million visitors in first half of 2025

Can Tho City welcomed over 4 million visitors in the first six months of 2025, reaching 61.6% of its annual target, according to the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Tourism revenue exceeded 4,000 billion VND, with 2.3 million overnight stays. Alongside promotional activities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue, the city has also developed new tourism products such as river tours, agricultural experiences, and cultural tours to cater to diverse groups.

The city is promoting digital transformation in tourism, conducting surveys of tourist destinations, promoting at Expo 2025 Osaka (Japan), and researching floating market development models to serve tourists. Several events have attracted large numbers of participants, including the Southern Folk Cake Festival, summer promotion programs, and other festivals.

The VnExpress Marathon system will hold its first large-scale race in Can Tho on September 14th, with the aim of promoting physical activity, the local image, tourism, and the service economy, and developing Can Tho into a tourism and sports center for the Mekong Delta. The event is expected to attract thousands of athletes from Vietnam and abroad.

The race route takes runners through iconic landmarks like Ben Ninh Kieu Wharf, Can Tho Bridge, riverside streets, and local residential areas, showcasing both the dynamic, modern side of Can Tho and its rustic Mekong Delta charm.

September is also an ideal time to compete, with temperatures ranging from 26-31 degrees Celsius, mild weather, and little rain, suitable for runners to improve their performance. Besides the race, athletes can explore the Cai Rang floating market, visit fruit orchards, and enjoy local cuisine.

Can Tho currently has nearly 640 accommodations, including many riverside hotels and homestays suitable for post-race relaxation. The city is directly connected to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang via an international airport and a convenient inter-provincial transportation system.

"With complete tourism infrastructure, many unique Mekong Delta experiences, and the cool September climate, Can Tho promises to be an attractive destination for runners at the first VnExpress Marathon held in the Mekong Delta," the organizers said.

Registration for the Super Early Bird phase is open until 15/7, with discounted tickets from 380,000 VND for the 5km race to 840,000 VND for the 42km race. Ticket prices will increase after this period.
