Da Nang most sought-after by Vietnamese travelers for the September 2nd holiday

Six of the top ten domestic destinations most searched by Vietnamese travelers for the September 2nd holiday are coastal and island locations, Agoda data reveals.

Agoda data, released on 18/8, indicates Da Nang is the most searched domestic destination for the upcoming September 2nd National Day holiday. Nha Trang and Da Lat followed, securing the second and third positions respectively. This insight comes from accommodation searches conducted on Agoda between 1/5 and 31/7, specifically for stays occurring from 28/8 to 2/9.

Vu Ngoc Lam, Agoda Vietnam country manager, highlighted that the search data reveals Vietnamese travelers are considering a diverse range of destinations for the National Day holiday, including coastal areas, islands, highlands, and major cities.

Coastal destinations dominate the top ten most searched locations. Following Da Nang and Nha Trang, Vung Tau secured the 4th position, Phan Thiet the 6th, Phu Quoc the 9th, and Ha Long Bay the 10th.

These coastal destinations are well-known to Vietnamese travelers, offering diverse accommodation and tourism services. The consistently high search volumes across coastal regions, from north to south, underscore a strong preference for relaxation and recreation amidst marine and island nature before the autumn season.

Da Lat stands out as the sole highland destination within the top ten. Its cool climate makes it a favored choice for many travelers seeking a relaxing escape during the final days of summer.

Major urban centers also feature prominently in the rankings. Ho Chi Minh City placed 5th, Hanoi 7th, and Hue 8th. This trend suggests a demand for staycations or short excursions among urban residents. Exploring historical sites, enjoying diverse cuisine, shopping, and downtown entertainment continue to be appealing activities during extended holidays.

For international destinations, Bangkok leads the list of most searched by Vietnamese travelers, followed by Seoul and Singapore. Tokyo secured the 4th spot, Taipei the 5th, Shanghai the 6th, and Hong Kong the 7th. Kuala Lumpur, Bali, and Osaka occupied positions 8 through 10, respectively.

Of these ten international destinations, nine are major cities, with Bali being the sole coastal and island location. The list, spanning from Southeast Asia to Northeast Asia, indicates that urban centers within the region remain a popular choice for Vietnamese travelers on short holidays.

Earlier in May, Lonely Planet recognized Da Nang as the second-best summer destination in Asia, placing it just after Busan, South Korea, on its list of nine top locations. The publication lauded Da Nang as "a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly on beaches like My Khe and Non Nuoc". The city offers a diverse tourism ecosystem, featuring primeval forests, distinctive architecture such as Dragon Bridge, and cultural heritage at the Museum of Cham Sculpture.
