Data from the online travel service application Agoda, released on 23/8, reveals Da Nang as the top international destination searched by Thai tourists for extended stays of 30 nights or longer. This indicates a notable shift in travel preferences towards more immersive experiences.
The Vietnamese coastal city attracts long-term visitors due to its combination of relatively affordable living costs, modern amenities, and convenient access to both pristine beaches and a vibrant urban environment. These factors make it an appealing choice for those seeking a blend of relaxation and city life.
Following Da Nang on the list are destinations such as: Bali, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, and Seoul. This trend highlights increasing interest in cities that offer a balance of affordability, cultural richness, and a desirable quality of life. Agoda attributes these results to the rising popularity of flexible work arrangements, where individuals combine vacations with remote work. This grants travelers more freedom in choosing when and where to travel, fostering the growth of "bleisure" travel, which merges business with leisure. Long-term travelers now prioritize living costs, infrastructure, and lifestyle alongside traditional attractions when selecting a destination.

Beyond its appeal to international visitors, Da Nang is also a highly favored destination for Vietnamese tourists, particularly for the 2/9 holiday. According to second-quarter data from Traveloka, a leading integrated travel platform in Southeast Asia, coastal areas like Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Con Dao experienced the highest search demand from domestic travelers during this holiday period. This reflects the enduring allure of trips that combine relaxation, nature, and cultural immersion. Da Nang, in particular, saw a significant surge during the holiday, with increased bookings for accommodations, attractions, and family travel. For instance, Sun World Ba Na Hills recorded a 132% increase in tour ticket bookings compared to the same period last year.
Overall, Vietnam continues to attract a growing number of Thai visitors. Statistics from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism show that in the first seven months of the year, over 287,000 Thai tourists arrived in Vietnam, marking an increase of nearly 10% compared to the previous year. Thailand currently ranks 12th among Vietnam's largest international source markets.
