Destinations beyond Hue city

A trip to Hue city can be combined with various journeys to neighboring areas, ranging from a few dozen kilometers to 200 km.

Hue city is a renowned tourist destination, attracting both domestic and international visitors with its historical landmarks, scenic spots, and diverse experiences. As a central hub in central Vietnam, Hue offers convenient transportation links to surrounding areas.

Here are some suggestions for destinations accessible from Hue, including information on distance, transportation, and travel time. Sites within Hue city, all under 15 km apart, are accessible by motorbike, bicycle, cyclo, taxi, or on foot.

Hue Imperial Citadel: Located in the heart of the city, on the banks of the Perfume River, within the complex of Hue Monuments, approximately 1 km west of Truong Tien Bridge, the citadel is easily accessible by various means. This area comprises three layers: the Capital Citadel, the Imperial Citadel, and the Forbidden Purple City. Visiting time: 2-3 hours.

Thuan An Beach (about 15 km): This beach is close to the city center, with a travel time of about 20-30 minutes. Visitors can swim, enjoy seafood, and participate in water sports.

Thanh Tan Hot Springs (about 30 km): This is a perfect place for relaxation, wellness, and enjoying nature. In addition to hot springs, there are activities like ziplining, highwire courses, and a water park.

Tam Giang Lagoon (about 30 km): This vast lagoon system in Southeast Asia is renowned for its stunning sunsets and attractions like Tam Giang Bridge, Chuon Lagoon, and Con Toc Ferry Terminal. Visitors can also enjoy kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and dining.

Suoi Voi (Elephant Springs) (about 50 km): This ecotourism site is popular on weekends, offering picnicking, photography, checking in with the giant elephant rock, swimming in the springs, and savoring local mountain specialties.

Bach Ma National Park (about 60 km): This area boasts a cool climate, primary forests, waterfalls, and numerous trekking trails. It's an ideal destination for nature lovers.

Lang Co Beach (about 70 km): One of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam, Lang Co is famous for its white sand and clear blue water. Visitors can combine a visit with nearby Canh Duong Beach and Lap An Lagoon. Lang Co is located at the foot of Hai Van Pass.

Further destinations (overnight trips)

These destinations, located in neighboring provinces within a maximum distance of 200 km, are suitable for overnight trips, allowing for a more relaxed pace.

Da Nang (90 km): From Hue city, visitors can cross the Hai Van Pass to reach Da Nang in about 2 hours. Independent travelers can opt for high-quality buses with fares ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 VND. Da Nang offers numerous attractions, including Ba Na Hills, Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains), and Hoi An. Day trips to Cu Lao Cham Island are also possible.

Quang Tri historical tour (from 50 to 110 km): A historical tour to Quang Tri from Hue city is a convenient and meaningful option. Destinations include the ancient citadel, Hien Luong Bridge and Ben Hai River, Truong Son National Cemetery, Vinh Moc Tunnels, and Long Hung intersection. Depending on the number of sites visited, tourists can choose to stay overnight in Quang Tri or return to Hue the same day.

Phong Nha - Ke Bang (about 220 km): Visitors traveling from northern Vietnam to Hue by car can include a stop at Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Phong Nha Cave, and Paradise Cave on their return journey. Travel time is approximately 4-5 hours.

Note: Most of these destinations are suitable for returning to Hue city. If not returning, visitors should carefully consider their destination choice.
