On 2/10, Guy Petcharat, owner of OASIS Phuket Airport, an accommodation facility near Phuket International Airport, shared details of an incident. A housekeeping staff member discovered an envelope containing several stacks of cash in the wardrobe after a guest had checked out and immediately reported it to the owner.

At that time, the French tourist had already departed Phuket for Koh Samui island. The owner contacted the guest to inform them of the forgotten money. Upon hearing the news, the tourist returned to Phuket to collect the envelope. While the exact amount was not disclosed, Guy Petcharat, the owner, estimated the sum to be around 100,000 baht (approximately 3,000 USD).
"He would have been very shocked if he had truly lost that money," Guy stated.
The tourist received his belongings intact and expressed great joy. Before departing, he gave the employee a 100 baht tip (approximately 3 USD).
This tip subsequently became a subject of debate on Thai social media. Valued at approximately $3, the tip represented only 0.1% of the returned money. Some commentators believed the tourist tipped too little, while others highlighted the significant difference between the two amounts, according to the *Thai Examiner*.
However, Guy expressed no complaints about the tip. The accommodation owner believes that finding and returning forgotten guest property is a staff responsibility, not an action done in expectation of a reward.
