Along Luong Son Pass in Nha Trang, numerous informal stalls have set up tables and chairs perilously close to cliff edges, some as near as 1,5 meters from the drop. These spots, often on steep talus slopes, are popular with visitors seeking drinks and sea views. Despite the scenic appeal, local authorities have installed railings and "no gathering" signs in certain areas to warn of danger. The pass itself stretches over 15 km, with many sections rising more than 50 meters above sea level, offering expansive ocean vistas that attract residents for daily sightseeing and exercise.

A staff member at one of the informal drink stalls noted that customers typically frequent the area on hot, dry days or holidays, primarily between 5 PM and 6 PM. Most visitors stop briefly to take photos before leaving. Hoang Quan, 31, from Nha Trang, often cycles on the pass in the afternoon, stopping at a stall to rest and take pictures. He described feeling "a bit overwhelmed" near the cliff edge. "The cliff is deep, so to ensure safety, I usually sit a little further back to feel at ease," he stated. Vinh Thong, a resident of Bac Nha Trang ward, recounted instances where tourists sat very close to the cliff edge for photos, and some families allowed young children to run and play in the vicinity while they had drinks.

Currently, there are no specific penalties for individuals who sit close to the cliff edge for sightseeing or photo opportunities, leading authorities to primarily issue reminders and post warning signs. The People's Committee of Bac Nha Trang ward confirmed that relevant units have repeatedly conducted operations to address encroaching stalls in the area, alongside installing danger warning signs in several sections.

A leader from the ward People's Committee announced plans to establish an inter-agency team. This team will be tasked with inspecting and dealing with informal businesses operating illegally within the road safety corridor along the pass.
