The incident occurred around 5 am on 27/9, as three men were walking along a flooded road in Nong Prue, Chonburi province, near Pattaya, Pattaya News reported. Nearby surveillance footage shows two of them falling into a roadside drainage canal. One man managed to climb back to the road, but the strong current swept the other away.

At the time of the man's disappearance, heavy rain had poured down on Pattaya for over an hour, flooding local roads.

Following the incident, local authorities deployed divers to search the drainage canals and nearby waterways but found no trace of the victim.

On 25/9, local police searched a house about 1 km from the scene. They discovered wet clothes believed to match those worn by the two men seen in the surveillance footage. Officers also found three new desktop computers and personal belongings.

The landlord informed police that the three South Korean men had signed a one-year lease and moved in on 12/9. Police are clarifying the identities of the three tenants and cooperating with immigration authorities to verify and locate the two men who left the scene.

Bangkok also experienced nearly 300 mm of rain over 48 hours from monday, 24/9 to 26/9. Traffic in the capital was disrupted, and some businesses were forced to close. Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt declared all 50 districts of the capital as flood disaster zones. Authorities opened over 200 shelters to evacuate 4,200 affected residents.
